Piped water..?

Klair, vloženo 21:32:56  27. 01. 2010

Uff... Ok, thanks.... Do you have any other suggestion?

verlit, vloženo 16:19:04  27. 01. 2010

Vodovoda friendly sounds awful! What language is it supposed to be? There might be a group which call themselves that but are you really sure everybody is aware of that.
Honestly, if I saw this on your webpage, I would think to myself "Bloody hell, cannot they afford to pay somebody who actually speaks Czech"? It would put me off trying your services.

Orki, vloženo 10:42:25  27. 01. 2010

I'm quite sure "dogs alowed" is right. It was what used to be written on signs in cartoons :)

Bellatrix, vloženo 09:47:47  27. 01. 2010

Well, "vodovoda friendly" sounds also strange to me, but do as you think :o)

Bellatrix, vloženo 09:46:03  27. 01. 2010

correction: "dog friendly", singular, I suppose...

Klair, vloženo 09:45:59  27. 01. 2010

Bell: thanks for your oppinion.. Keep suggesting :) I am reallyinterested...

Well, i think we will use "vodovoda friendy" in czech language, the group of people that supports that uses this name... But in English? I really do not know!

Bellatrix, vloženo 09:44:34  27. 01. 2010

Hey, I have just googled a bit and found "tap water service" or "tap water free of charge", speaking about restaurant.

Bellatrix, vloženo 09:43:40  27. 01. 2010

Vstup se psy (povolen) = dogs allowed. Or "dogs friendly".

"Tap water friendly" sounds not good to me. I don't know, I might be mistaken, but I think that "something/someone friendly" is more or less passive. Like "dog friendly" = we like dogs, you can take your dog inside, or "children friendly" = we have toys your child can play with and we don't mind if they scream a bit. You know what I mean? I don't know if I'm right but I feel it this way.

Klair, vloženo 09:16:54  27. 01. 2010

Oh, sorry, I did not realised that I was supposed to write in English :-)

Lunchtime is the webpage I work for. We create the list of restaurants and daily menus in big cities...

Every restaurant has its own profile that shows its special character... And recently I convinced my boss to add "vstup se psy" and "rádi vám nalejeme vodu z kohoutku". Now I am looking for translation for vstup se psy and for expression and translation of voda z kohoutku... Maybe Vodovoda friendly - tap water friendly?

Bellatrix, vloženo 09:02:32  27. 01. 2010

Klair: "Voda z kohoutku" is TAP WATER. Maybe you can simply use "drinking water" - in Czech "pitna voda" (sold in bottles) is of the same quality as tap water (unlike "pramenitá voda" and "minerální voda" that should go from source directly to bottle without any conditioning).

What is Lunchtime, by the way? I don't know how to translate "vstup se psy" best because I don't know the context. Is it something like "zákaz vstupu se psy", or what?

It is actually "Am I being detained?" See http://slovnik.seznam.cz/?q=detained&lang=en_cz

Im interested in this video about one ultralibertian man. Its pitty, I dont understand, what he says.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6uw7506xMw

"Im I being atained?" ?? - I try this and other forms of "etejnt" in vocabulary and no point.

Thats why, I hate english. Thats why is Germen, Russia and other languages easier for me. I hear a unknown name 1000-times and more times, and no progress with understanding.

Can you help me with understanding this video?
