:-) That´s a good one!

Arian, vloženo 19:24:19  31. 12. 2008

And in the meantime, this is my favourite English-language joke:

Three Irishmen, Paddy, Sean and Seamus, were stumbling home from the pub late one night and found themselves on the road which led past the old graveyard..
'Come have a look over here,' says Paddy, 'It's Michael O'Grady's grave, God bless his soul. He lived to the ripe old age of 87.'
'That's nothing,' says Sean, 'here's one named Patrick O'Toole, it says here that he was 95 when he died.'!
Just then, Seamus yells out, 'Good God, here's a fella that got to be 145!'
'What was his name? Was he from hereabouts' asks Paddy.
Seamus stumbles around a little, awkwardly lights a match to see what else is written on the stone marker, and exclaims,
'No... 'Twas some fella called Miles... from Dublin .'

So, an English guest in Czech hotel calls reception and he orders: "Two rums to room 222." But the reception clerk didn't get it, so he answer: "Tramtadada tatata, you idiot!"

toomz: I hope your joke is funnier;o)

toomz, vloženo 17:15:01  31. 12. 2008

No, I do not know this, but I know that one with English dentist and Czech patient ;-)

Quadrix, vloženo 15:19:31  31. 12. 2008

This reminds me a little bit one joke when a hotel guest is ordering "two rums to room 222":o) Do you know it?

Bellatrix, vloženo 20:39:24  30. 12. 2008

:o) Probably :o))))

It is my favourite English tongue-twister, I found it in my PC in a long forgotten file.

Kroc, vloženo 19:48:46  30. 12. 2008

Chuck Norris? :o)

Bellatrix, vloženo 19:26:32  30. 12. 2008

How much wood would a wood chunk chuck, if a wood chunk could chuck wood?

toomz, vloženo 13:27:09  16. 12. 2008

Yes there is, but if you change... OK, forget it ;-)

Felix, vloženo 08:42:48  15. 12. 2008

but theres written sex at 60.

See you, toomz, after 35-40 years in a pub and talk over this problem, yeah? :)

Mellor, vloženo 18:18:17  14. 12. 2008

toomz: Personal experience? :o))

toomz, vloženo 01:24:09  14. 12. 2008

Well for me fits better if I change age 16 and 20... but I think then it destroys the circle, because sex at age 70 is not a success, that is a miracle :-D

Kroc, vloženo 00:30:26  13. 12. 2008

life in circle...Why is the "having money" so far from "having sex" ? :D

Mellor, vloženo 08:47:38  11. 12. 2008

At age 4, success is...not peeing in your pants.
At age 12, success is...having friends.
At age 16, success is...having a driver's license.
At age 20, success is...having sex.
At age 35, success is...having money.
At age 50, success is...having money.
At age 60, success is...having sex.
At age 70, success is...having a driver's license.
At age 75, success is...having friends.
At age 90, success is...not peeing in your pants.

“the growing urban legend that “American Pie” was the name of Buddy Holly’s plane the night it crashed, killing him, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper, is untrue. I created the term.” - Don McLean, 1999

Sorry for making so many posts, I'm just too lazy for making only one of them. :o)

Legolas Craft, vloženo 15:31:10  28. 11. 2008

However there are some differences in the lyrics of these three songs, however the torso is the same, and it's McLean's.

Legolas Craft, vloženo 15:29:12  28. 11. 2008

Funny, I always took American Pie (just the pie, not the song :D) as a symbol for American Dream...

BTW, Don McLean wrote this in the first place, didn't he? Then Dylan covered it and after him Maddona, as far as I can remember. And many others, I'm sure :).

Bellatrix, vloženo 13:59:53  28. 11. 2008

Felix: I have always thought that "Miss American Pie" was one of those stupid american contests. Maybe a girl, that widdowed bride he is singing about, was Miss American Pie :o)

toomz, vloženo 00:19:43  28. 11. 2008

But of course! I think music can say much more than lyrics. With words you can repeat same things, but with music you can discover everytime something new.

So mostly I like more lyrics, which are "imitative" (zvukomalebné) than "narrative".
