Winter Gold
When winter slowly starts to crawl in, passes by the dying fall,
First snowflakes shimmer, on a leaf bed glimmer and cold winds start to howl
Where down the hill, white river stream a lake glows deep and crystal clear
A maiden stood shape cloaked in a hood, her blue eyes mirrored fear…
Snowflakes shimmer and crystal clear her blue eyes mirrored fear.
Her heart still ached from feelings fake as mists rolled over round the lake
Like the web silk and white as milk where last sunbeams on water break
Then twilight comes, shadows grow fast, night falls and first stars glitter
From her blue eyes like stars from skies pearl tears are falling bitter…
Mists rolled as silk, tears falling bitter, like little pearls they glitter.
Cold waters wait - a tempting bait for one soul caught in pain too great
The song of depth, a promised end, relief from both sorrow and hate
Frozen dew glossed entrapped in moss as lake itself would mourn her loss
As she goes near, face strangely still, soft sand kissing her naked toes
The song of depth, a tempting bait, drawing her near to waters still…
Her body thin descends in thrill as water flows where air has been
An icy stream brings from within a crown of foam for silent queen
And then all stops as from her lungs a breath escapes – the very last
Waves circle fast, wash away past, pale moon descends - a spell is cast
When the dawn comes and sun wakes to rise
Her pale visage glows like made from glass
The golden hair, silky and fair
Shining in morning light, encased in ice
And from that day the stories are told
That yellow blooms grow there - The winter gold. |
